Maddison Cross is a PhD student at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where her research focuses on the biology and ecology of scalloped hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna lewini) in Queensland, Australia. Her work combines vertebral ageing, tagging studies, and drone-based observations to better understand the species’ growth, movement patterns, and habitat use. She also works as a Technical Officer with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries on the SharkSmart drone program.
