Luisa Forbes is a Spatial Data Analyst at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania. With a strong technical background and extensive experience in Tasmania’s dive fisheries, particularly abalone, Luisa has contributed to a wide range of research programs. She currently leads the IMAS Dive Fisheries spatial data electronic monitoring program and is undertaking a PhD investigating fleet dynamics in the Tasmanian abalone fishery, focusing on fisher behaviour and its implications for sustainable management. Her research interests include fisheries management, spatial ecology, and optimising data collection methods to support sustainable and adaptive fisheries decision-making.
