As part of the Australian Society for Fish Biology’s commitment to recognising and celebrating the contributions of Indigenous, Torres Strait Islander and other First Nations people worldwide to research, water and fish, we invite all travel bursary recipients to an informal meet and greet on Monday 18th August 15:15 – 16:15 in Waterfront room 3, Darwin Convention Centre. This session will offer a space for travel bursary recipients to speak about their research and connection to country, and provide a space to connect with delegates, mentor, and organisers in a culturally safe setting. Gathering will foster early conversations and relationships that will continue throughout the conference, aligning with our 2025 theme: Connecting Waters – Science, Policy and People for a stronger fish future.
This open session is intended for:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander delegates;
- Other Indigenous and First Nations delegates from across the world; and
- Non-Indigenous delegates working in partnership with First Nations communities or on topics grounded in Country, culture, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
